LaPrade Educational Fund
Typical Grant $1,000

Fund provides scholarship assistance to qualified and deserving young men and women pursuing an undergraduate degree.

  • Be a graduating senior or current college student residing within a 200-mile radius of the Henry County Circuit Court for the entire scholarship period.
  • Enroll part-time or full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have an annual household income of no more than $96,000 if there is one student attending college, or no more than $111,000 if there are two students attending college in the household.

Beverly W. & Mabel Tudor Grogan Scholarship Fund
Typical Grant $TBD

The primary purpose of the fund is to provide educational scholarship assistance to students who are graduates of Patrick County.

  • Be a graduate or graduating senior of Patrick County High School
  • Preference to be given to students entering the medical field

Joel C. and Elizabeth L. Hall Educational Fund
Typical Grant $1,000

Fund provides educational scholarships to qualified and needy young men and women.

  • Be a graduating senior, or have graduated from a high school in the City of Martinsville, or the counties of Franklin, Henry, Patrick, or Pittsylvania.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Enroll at least part-time in an educational program at an accredited four-year college or university that is associated with the United Methodist Church.
  • While applicants may pursue any course of study, preference will be given to those studying to become a Methodist minister.
  • Have an annual household income of no more than $96,000.

Mimi Hart Memorial Police Scholarship Fund
Typical Grant $1,000

Fund provides higher education scholarship assistance to deserving men and women who are children, or grandchildren of employees of the Martinsville City Police Department.

  • Be a graduating high school senior, a high school graduate, or current college student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Be a child or grandchild of an employee of the Martinsville City Police. Department who have been employed for at least five years or was employed with the department for ten years and left in good standing.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Demonstrate the ability to satisfactorily complete college-level studies.

Hooker Educational Scholarship Fund
Typical Grant $4,000

Fund provides scholarships to deserving high school seniors and undergraduate students in Henry County or the City of Martinsville Virginia and to students who are children or spouses of Hooker Furniture Corporation (HFC) employees.

Eligibility Requirements for students who are children or spouses of HFC employees:
• Be the child or spouse of an HFC employee, who, at the time of an initial scholarship grant, is a “full-time” employee and has been continuously employed for two or more years by HFC.
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrate capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies as evidenced by high school and/or college transcripts or similar documentation.
• Demonstrate financial need as evidenced through completion of a FAFSA form or similar evaluation document.

Note: This scholarship is renewable for a period of up to six years and a maximum award of $16,000. Family members of former directors and officers of Hooker Educational Foundation and directors and officers of HFC are not eligible.

Eligibility Requirements for undergraduate students in Henry County or the City of Martinsville Virginia:
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrate capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies as evidenced by high school and/or college transcripts or similar documentation.
• Demonstrate financial need as evidenced through completion of a FAFSA form or similar evaluation document.

Note: This scholarship is not renewable.

MFP Scholarship Fund
Typical Grant $1,000

Fund provides scholarship assistance to deserving men and women pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of health, business, or religion. This scholarship is renewable for a period of up to four years. Returning recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5 and may not receive a failing grade in a class.

  • Must pursue a degree/certificate in the area of health, business, or religion.
  • Be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or a vocational or technical school in the State of Virginia.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to satisfactorily complete college-level studies as evidenced by high school and/or college transcripts.

The scholarship deadline is Friday, January 13, 2023.
